From Singapore to Japan, ADASIS Members were busy in October and November participating in important events in the field of ITS and continuing to collaborate and share knowledge to advance the platform’s work on bringing HAD (Highly Automated Driving) map data to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems thanks to the new ADASIS Interface Specifications (v3).

The first big event was the 26th ITS World Congress in Singapore. During this five-day event, ADASIS Coordinator Jean-Charles Pandazis presented in different occasions the platform’s latest developments to an international crowd of experts.

Highlight of the ITS World Congress was the Special Interest Session “Challenge of integrating Automated Vehicles into the digital infrastructure”, which was moderated by Mr Pandazis brought together representatives from ERTICO – ITS Europe, NDS Association, TISA, HERE Technologies and the Center for Spatial Information Science from the University of Tokyo. The session discussed the challenges related to the digitisation of transport, in particular the need for data exchange between vehicles and the infrastructure.

In addition, ADASIS Member Elektrobit showcased its Electronic Horizon solution demonstration, showing that Automated Driving relevant traffic event messages can be processed by ADASIS and displayed by the Electronic Horizon Reconstructor.

Following the 26th

ITS World Congress, discussions moved to Tokyo, Japan, for a presentation of ADASIS to ITS Japan members, followed by two days of ADASIS meeting hosted by ZENRIN and finally the SIP-adus conference. The topic of this annual conference is automation, gathering international participation from Europe, the US and Asia. Mr. Pandazis provided participants with an overview of ADASIS and the platform’s ongoing activities.

 

 

The key aspect presented was the roll out of ADASIS specification v3, which will feature an extended list of traffic signs in reference document, special traffic light profile, which include road attribute and light phases, localization of objects (obstacles, traffic signs, faces) and connecting paths.

ADASIS specification v3.2 is still a draft version, however, ADASIS Members plan to release it in 2020.

Meetings in Japan were a good occasion for ADASIS so seek for potential collaborations.
